The NICEIC Periodic Inspection Reports is a very detailed report carried out for a prospective homebuyer. It identifies and classifies faults according to the NICEIC scale:

  1. Requires urgent attention
  2. requires improvement
  3. requires further investigation
  4. Does not comply with BS7671
    (this does not necessarily imply that the installation is unsafe)

You will require an Electrical Installation work certificate of compliance before you can connect new power supply to your newly converted flats or any new developments. Landlords are also legally bound to provide valid compliance certificates before renting out their properties.

National Inspection Council for Electrical Installation Contracting (NICEIC), in co-operation with the British Standards Institution, sets the standards for electrical installations and testing and the way it is tested.
