Why is damp proofing important?

Damp can cause tremendous damage to your property and is a health hazard. It can become quite costly to remedy if it is not diagnosed correctly. Damp Report: Building Surveyors use damp-meters to check for damp within the internal walls. The cause of most damp is usually fairly obvious. A Damp Report is requested by the surveyor, usually to confirm the cause of dampness, to determine the extent of the problem, as well as an estimate for remedying the problem. The most common way to protect walls against rising damp is by injecting a damp proofing course which is built into the wall. Most old properties did not have the opportunity to have damp proof courses.
